Some helpful links for suggestions for material and building lesson plans:

  • Lesson Plan: Incorporates Cummings and Herbert into a two session lesson and a student reflection, exploring form of poetry; grades 9-12
  • Classroom-Friendly Poems: Selections by Cummings
  • Gateway: A sort of 'jumping off' point for educators in the area of modern American poetry, including Cummings
  • Conrad Aiken: A poet of the same time, good for comparing and contrasting those that come from the same era and inspiration
  • Restoring the Artwork: a podcast about restoring the paintings of Cummings', and some excerpts of the poet's own voice reading his works
  • Readings: readings of Cummings' poetry by Gary Roelof, a very enthusiastic reader
